Hello:

a question on the programs default design & possible alteration...

the mailbox program by default creates a folder on the hard drive in the *user* profiles folder.... in appdata/roaming in *Windows 10*, this folder contains all of the various mailbox information, the number of individual mailboxes that the user has created & makes use of. This folder (in my case) gets quite large (I have a lot of stored messages saved from 2 particular mailboxes in there). At the moment that folder is well over 1 gig large..... I'm making use of the imap configuration, is it possible to save all of these messages to *the cloud* instead of the messages taking up physical space on my hard drive? All of my source mailbox accounts make use of *cloud* storage to save any users information.... can one do the same with Thunderbird?

thx

Hi all! Every now and then I get this error message upon trying to send emails (see image).

This happens with various email recipients. After about an hour or two I am able to send any emails without getting this error.

Also, I have absolutely no problems sending emails directly from the server, this happens only in Thunderbird and it is up-to-date, version 128.8.0esr 64-bit on Windows 11. It used to happen on my old PC running Windows 10 which I stopped using a week ago. On my new one I set the local directory to the archive I backed up from the old PC to the new one.

Has anyone experienced the same problem or has any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

As I would like to use the Troubleshooting Mode for Thunderbird, I clicked the appropriate button. Soon after, my browser screen appeared and showed Thunderbird’s site requesting me the donation. I have been paying it regularly, thus I would like to skip this site to go further. However, there is no way to go further. I am writing this now from my mobile phone. Please help me.

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've been archiving my e-mail on my Synology NAS for a number of years now. However, my W10 desktop computer died last year and I've had to reinstall Thunderbird on a new W11 PC. I want to get access to all the archived e-mails on my NAS, that is, as they used to appear in Thunderbird under local folders year-by-year. I also want to be able to archive more recent e-mails to the same location. That is, I want to re-establish the same archiving process I had previously, complete with access to the old archives. I've tried to set up the same file path to the NAS under Local Folders in Thunderbird (as far as I can remember - I might not have it correct) but the old archives don't appear. in an attempt to identify the correct file path on the NAS, I've tried to archive a recent message as a test so I can see where it is stored - in Thunderbird the year folder appears under the NAS location under local folders as expected and I can see the message in the message window so it seems to be working but I can't see any new folders or files on the NAS - nothing modified or created with today's date. I'd be grateful for any assistance. Thanks, Kevin

I have 2 Thunderbird accounts running on 3 different computers. The passwords were last changed in Oct 2020 and both have been running fine until today. One is still without problems but the other starting today will not log-in. A window pops up with the following message: "Login to server mail.server310.com with username randy@johnstonfam.org failed." One computer is running W10 and the other 2 W11 and I have the same problem on all 3. I have Thunderbird ver 128.8.0esr, 64 bit. I checked and the password is correct. I tried re-entering it to no avail. Please help to get this account running again. NOTE: The other email address is Randy@RJohnstonAppraisals.com

imap.gmail.com is configured and working on my main desktop PC via Thunderbird. The account is used strictly for sending out Word mailmerge emails. The setup is using Oauth2 and the IMAP syncing is fully functional. I'm trying to set up an identical IMAP account on a laptop PC to access and synch to the same Gmail account, but am getting a "setup-failed" message. I have used all the same parameters as the desktop setup, but no luck.

I have a new computer running Windows 11 Pro that I want to install Thunderbird on. I am running Thunderbird Ver 45 on the old machine. I tried getting all the profile moved. I got most of the APP set up, but when I load it, I do not get my old/history of the Sent box. Also, when I now try to reply or send an email, it gives an error... Login to server smtp.comcast.new with username 'name'@comcast.net failed - Retry, Enter New PW, Cancel... If I try Enter New PW, nothing happens - it just Retries again and fails. How do I get past these two problems?? Dave

I have been asking for a help to fix this issue for a long time.

If these questions are read by the Thunderbird developers, I would hope someone would respond.

Why would an email from a sender listed in my contacts, who sends me a URL link to a website NOT colored blue and clickable as a hyperlink?

It seems like my previous requests for a fix about this issue was nothing but crickets. I am not a software developer, but retired hardware engineer, so I know a little about hyperlinks. My Email provider is AOL, and URL links come in properly as URL address, but they are 'not hyperlinks' that I can just click on to redirect me to that website, and view what is sent to me with a new tab. If I change (View Message body) AS, TEXT, then the URL address in the email turns into a hyperlink and is then clickable. Really TEXT??? Its not text, I think this is a bug. Why would I have to change from View Message AS "Original HTML", my default view each time I want to view the link. Note the email body has a URL address the for redirect with HTML code, see below.

Example: https://www.instagram.com/share/p/_8Z8M_PJR

I have been a member of this group for well over 10 years and I donate each year, but I plan to postpone any further donations until I receive support for something that should be a simple fix. AOL.com email in the inbox over the web, the URL is shown as a hyperlink, (blue), thunderbird is not showing it as hyperlink?

Community support is welcome, Eric S.

I have windows 10 with 4 Email accounts on my desktop computer. One is TB using ee.net 3rd party provider, two are TB using Gmail and one using Outlook. The Gmail accounts and Outlook work ok. The remaining account with ee.net has been a problem for weeks now. It will not install. EE.net says NOT their problem because all Emails are received and sent OK on their webmail server. They will not help further. I cannot find what is at fault, TB, ee.net or both.

I can't create an IMAP account even though ee.net says their server handles POP3 and IMAP. After long trial-error, POP3 installed manually but sending/receiving messages has server errors. Incoming: mail.ee.net port 110, no security, password insecure. Outgoing: SMTP.mail.ee.net port 587 ssl/tls Auth2 Messages to it have "server refused" error & messages sent say "outgoing SMTP server failed".

Here's the biggest mystery: At one time I found a "magic combination" where all at once everything started working and all waiting messages suddenly downloaded. However, without changing anything, an hour later it returned to earlier non-working condition. It did that once before when I logged out of the ee.net web site and then logged back in. It then asked me for the password again and when I did that, everything started working but quit a day later.

Re-entering the ee.net password again didn't fix it. So, now I ask, how can a fix work only temporarily??? I've chased this problem for weeks now.

Hello! I have used Thunderbird for many years. Lately, it waits much too long to prompt compacting all accounts. When "Compact all folders when it will save over ..." is set down to 1MB total, it still does not prompt until it has to clear 30 or 40 MB.

It didn't do this in the past, prompting me every 2 or 3 days at higher settings. So, I'm curious if this is "normal" now and I need to manually compact, or if there is a problem with 'Account Settings > Disk Space > Compact all folders' ... ?

I installed TBird app a couple weeks ago and everything was working fine. I didn’t use that computer (Win11) for a couple weeks. When I tried to use email this week, using TBird, I got a message saying: ‘Login to server pop.centurylink.net with username drhart@embarqmail.com failed’ I reset my password and nothing changed in Thunderbird. I deleted the T-Bird app and reinstalled. The email name is showing along with the Inbox and Trash folder, plus the local folders are visible. When I click on the Get Messages icon, I get the same message: ‘Login to server pop.centurylink.net with username drhart@embarqmail.com failed’

I have no problem logging into webmail on the same computer. Also, I have no problem getting email on other devices; Win10 laptop using Outlook, iPhone using Mail, android tablet using native mail app.

Thank you for your attention and assistance.

I have tracked down the situation where my Internet download speeds drop from about 598 Mbps to around 267 Mbps after I open Mozilla. I am running a desktop computer with Windows 11 (updated) and Edge and Chrome. I am hardwired directly to my Xfinity modem (no WiFi connection). When I close Mozilla, my speed goes to 598 Mbps, and when I open Mozilla, my speed drops to 267 Mbps. This seems excessive and unacceptable. Are there any settings or anything to adjust, not to have Mozilla be such a drain on my system?

I have bo ught a new computer. I had 3 gmail accounts in the old computer. In the i have only been able to connect to 2 of them. For the third i get an error message saying that it probably depends on: wrong configuration, wrong username or wrong password. I have changed the password but that did not help. It is the same configuration as the other 2 accounts. I do not know which of them that is wrong. I would be happy if someone could give me a proposal. Regards Sven Palmgren

Using Nord VPN:

All gmail accounts are set up for imap on Thunderbird:
    1) With VPN on, I cannot send/receive emails from/to my gmail accounts using Thunderbird.
    2) With VPN off, I can send/receive emails from/to my gmail accounts
    3) With VPN on or off and logged directly on mail.google.com, I am able to send/receive emails

And, yes, I have tried different port numbers and all server info is correct for imap on Thunderbird as indicated by #2 above. This change happened overnight and Thunderbird always worked faultlessly with Nord VPN for years. I don't think we can blame Nord VPN for this, given #3 above.

Your thoughts?
